Fun Facts
One passion people quickly learn about me is that I love to run and constantly train for at least two half-marathons a year. If I'm not at school, work or the gym, I'm usually out on a long run with my dog, Hazel. I also love to play my ukulele and try to learn a new song on it every chance that I get.
About Me
I am a junior English Education major at Montclair State University. I've been on the Dean's List for a year now. When I graduate, I hope to teach my own English classes one day at a middle school or high school level. I love helping students unlock their potential for writing and reading comprehension. My ultimate goals are to become a published writer, to get my PhD in English, and to be an English professor at a university.
Experience
I am currently working as a teacher at a facility in Clifton, NJ called the Pro Learning Center. I teach ESL (English as a Second Language) courses to people of all ages and different cultural backgrounds. I've also volunteered at my local library as a supervisor of a children's summer reading program. I helped kids in elementary school and middle school pick out books to read and helped motivate them to keep reading by showing them how fun it can be to read.
Approach
My reflectiveness, appreciation of cultural diversity, and my passion for teaching have all proven to be strengths throughout my life as a student, an ESL teacher, and prove to be strengths as a tutor. I’m an incredibly reflective educator as I see the struggle of my students as a reflection upon my own approach to teaching a lesson rather than as a fault of my students. I emphasize on the improvement of my students rather than stressing their failures.
