Fun Facts
One quirk people tend to notice fairly quickly about me is my penchant for exploring and partaking in "nerdy" interests. I tend to get very excited about the newest tech releases, recent scientific breakthroughs, new historical and archaeological discoveries, or even something as simple as hearing a literary or scientific reference in pop culture. About Me
I am second-year Post-Baccalaureate student in the San Francisco State University Pre-Health Professions Certificate Program. I graduated from UCLA in 2013 with a degree in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology (MCDB). I'm working towards applying to medical school and a career as a clinical physician. I firmly believe that a primary focus of one's life should be to use his or her talents to be of service to others. It is this belief that has driven me to develop a passion for teaching and to focus on a career path in the medical field.
I have consistently sought out opportunities to tutor, teach and mentor throughout my academic career. As a student in intermediate and secondary school, I consistently found myself in a tutoring role, often organizing and running study parties, and forming tight-knit study groups for my classes. As a senior in high school, I took on my first significant role as a mentor-figure as a Peer Teacher for an AP World History course. I was responsible for grading assignments, developing and giving lectures, leading discussions and reviews, and providing a source of guidance, aid, and experience from an accessible standpoint to the students in the class. I can honestly say that Peer Teaching was one of the best experiences I have had, and it prompted me to seek out further opportunities to be a mentor to other students. As a student at UCLA, I have become a member of several student organizations that focus on outreach to younger students in the Los Angeles area. I have taught health education curricula to high schoolers, provided community health education and homework help to younger students, and have spent a summer developing a curriculum for an Honors Pre-Calculus preparatory course. I have also served as a tutor to the children of faculty members at UCLA. Through all of these teaching experiences, I have developed a passion for helping others to succeed in their academic pursuits.
As a tutor, I attempt to incorporate strategies
