Fun Facts
I come from an incredibly musical family - my mother sang in professional opera while my father matched her voice with his own voice and guitar. I picked up on this family trend as I went through piano lessons and picked up guitar on my own. My music hobby became more and more fun as I started to write and record my own songs. There are really few things that can match the joy of playing and listening to music, and I'm glad that I had the support of my parents to pursue my love for music.
About Me
I was raised in New Jersey my whole life and I currently attend maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">columbia-university">maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">Columbia University in New York City as a Mechanical Engineering major. After graduating, I plan to pursue a Master's Degree in engineering and enter into either an engineering firm or a research group. I am also considering pursuing a PhD later on.
I started manhattan">tutoring my senior year in high school, picking up students that my college bound cousin had left for me. Most of my students were elementary or middle school students, and a majority of them had recently moved from Korea. I taught these students reading and writing to get them up to par in school and taught the others mathematics. My students were intelligent and fairly responsible, and so I more often found myself teaching to get them ahead of their classes rather than catching up.
My approach to manhattan">tutoring is fairly simple. I usually try to gauge the ability of the student and figure out what issues he or she may be having and then focus on those issues. I try to understand where the student loses understanding of a concept and then explain it another way. The only thing that follows is practice and repetition until the student is able to solve problems without any more guidance.
