Fun Facts

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my eleven year old brother, shopping, completing various craft projects (friendship bracelets, crochet, key chains, etc.), learning new crafts, and spending time with friends. I also enjoy stepping (which is a combination of stomping, clapping, dancing, and chanting put together to create various beats) and teaching step. At school I am a member of The National Council of Negro Women, and a mentor for Quiet Storm Steppers.

About Me

My Name is Kristen German, and I am a Sophomore Early Childhood Education major at Georgia State University. I have been on the Dean's List at Georgia State for the past two semesters. Upon graduation I plan to teach in an elementary school and later return to Georgia State to attain my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership.

In the past I have tutored children in grades K-5 at a local after school program, as well as a local summer camp. I have also done one on one atlanta">tutoring in my home. Not only do I have experience atlanta">tutoring, but working in the classroom as well. I have led numerous small and large group lessons within fourth, third, and first grade classrooms alongside a teacher.

My atlanta">tutoring philosophy includes student led, reinforcement, organization, and connecting learning to the real world. It is important that students learn concepts for themselves, which aids in the information becoming encoded into their long term memory. This is why I believe a student should be guided through learning by the instructor asking open-ended questions which allows the student to utilize their critical thinking skills (student led). Reinforcement is necessary because it helps the student to keep newly learned information fresh in their brains. Organization is the key to success because students will be able to properly locate any paperwork/ notes they have taken in class, which will make studying even easier. Lastly connecting learning to the real world important because students are able to see how and what they are learning impacts them daily.
