Fun Facts

I am very passionate about the arts (singing, dancing, acting, etc). I played the violin for over eight years, I have been in numerous choirs, and have been dancing since I was five. I enjoy writing poetry, short stories, and lyrics. On my downtime, I enjoy sports and traveling. Someday I would love to teach abroad.

About Me

I am a Senior at Adelphi Univeristy in Garden City, NY studying English and adolescent education. I am in the five-year combined bachelor’s and master’s program (Scholar Teacher Education Program or STEP). My ultimate goal is to teach English and to get students to love reading and writing.

Throughout my life I have had many opportunities assisting students with English as well as mentoring them. In high school I participated in several programs that allowed me to work with middle school students. Frog Tutoring has allowed me to expand my tutoring experiences by having more formal, one- on- one interaction with students and parents.

As an aspiring and future educator I believe that helping a student achieve all they can is accomplished through good communication. I enjoy speaking to students and discovering what kind of learner they are and what kind of person they are outside of the classroom. I do not believe in the banking method of teaching, where I give the students answers and tell them how to think. Therefore, each student is responsible to be an independent and critical thinker and learner. I believe that teamwork makes a dream work so parents and teachers are encouraged to participate in the whole system of tutoring.
