Fun Facts
I'm a Capricorn who can dunk a basketball, skateboard, tell a joke, and dance...if pushed to do so. I love to perform improv and standup comedy as well as act. (I was a Theater Minor in College) I can do impersonations and accents; my British accent is particularly believable. I can cook and eat, and I've written two full length comedic plays, the second of which I am in the process of submitting to competitions.
About Me
I graduated summa cum laude from The washington-university">George washington-university">Washington University in May and I am now in NYC working at The People's Improv Theater and writing my third full length play. Academically, I want to become more proficient in both Spanish and Chinese and I'm always looking to become a better writer. Writing is important to me because after I finish my third play I plan to write a comedic television series.
My experience includes manhattan">tutoring female student athletes in Spanish (levels 1-5) during college. The majority of my pupils were on the women's basketball team. I also used to help my friends with their homework while we were sitting backstage during long theatrical rehearsals. Over the past four years I have also developed my own methods of studying along with memorization techniques that are heavily based on mnemonics. These methods allowed me to get through college with only two Bs on my transcript. I was also on the Dean's List every semester that I was in college.
My approach is to discuss a students strengths and weaknesses during the first session and then to create a program intended to first shore up their weaknesses while keeping their strengths constant and then proceed to a more rounded approach once the first goal has been achieved. My style borrows partly from my love of and appreciation for professional sports and the approaches of professional strength trainers who always attempt to work on neglected areas (such as flexibility and core strength) before moving on to full body work outs. I also love to provide students with additional outside materials that have aided me in my own studies. For example, NPR has some great science programs and I have found a variety of websites that have helped me with my Spanish and Mandarin Chinese.
