About Me
I recently graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a degree in mathematics and a minor in accounting. I am currently studying to take the actuarial exams at the end of this year. In my free time, I love exploring the beautiful city of San Diego.
I have always had a passion for tutoring. In High School I worked summers as a teachers assistant preparing junior high students for high school math. When I went off to college, I continued in-home tutoring for students of all ages (elementary through college). I was also a mentor at a local elementary school for a few 5th grade students, where we arranged study sessions, went on field trips, and spent time helping out in the classroom. I enjoy tutoring math for the simple reason that I love seeing my students look at something, which they once thought impossible, as second nature.
Each student is unique and has their own way of learning. I believe it is most important to cater to each students learning habits and understanding of the material. With math, there are my ways to solve a problem. It is important for students to be introduced to multiple methods in order for them to choose the one they are most comfortable with. Encouragement and support is important, I like the students to feel comfortable and confident, not only in the tutor sessions but in the classroom. My objective is to help the students achieve their goals and succeed!
