Fun Facts
I love playing games of all sorts. I'm a member of the SCU Men's Ultimate Frisbee team, which I love. I also love acting. Some plays I've been in include "Romeo and Juliet" and Mary Zimmerman's "Metamorphoses." I also enjoy singing and dancing, although I'm not very good at those. I also love outdoor activities like hiking, skiing, rock-climbing, and surfing.
About Me
I am a freshman Sociology major in the University Honors Program at Santa Clara University. I intend to double major, probably in either economics or psychology. I haven't been here long, but I love it already! It seems so far away, but when I graduate I hope to work for a non-profit and earn money to get a Ph.D. and become a university professor, doing equal parts teaching and research. I am very interested in social justice, and I hope to make a real difference in that area with my life.
Experience
I've always been eager to help people. As such, I often offer miscellaneous school help to classmates and to my sisters. I also have experience working with kids with mental challenges. I tutored a boy at a school for the mentally challenged in Palampur, India. I also volunteered at Outdoors for All, an organization devoted to giving kids with mental challenges the chance to play outside. With OFA, I helped facilitate activities such as kayaking, rock climbing, and swimming.
Approach
In middle and high school, I had difficulty turning homework in on time due to learning disabilities. Although I am still working through that problem, I have made significant progress with help from understanding and supportive teachers. I realize that everybody has a lot of potential, no matter what it seems or what other people say. My goal is to support students, and help them see their potential. I have learned many study skills to compensate for my disorganized nature, which I can share.
