Fun Facts
One thing that a lot of people don't know about me is that I know how to solve a Rubik's Cube. I also know how to play the violin and the piano. I am bilingual in English and Spanish and I studied Japanese for four years during high school. I love to sing and dance, even though I'm not the best, but I would like to eventually take dance lessons as well as vocal lessons. I also love fashion. I won four awards during high school as the "most fashionable" in my orchestra class.
About Me
I am a recent college graduate from the University of Texas at San Antonio. I made the Dean's List in the Fall of 2011 and in the Spring of 2012. I am majoring in both Psychology and Biology with a concentration in Neurobiology. I have recently been accepted into the University of Texas at San Antonio's Graduate program. I will be working on my Master's of Education in School Counseling in the Fall!
I interned with a Kindergarten teacher as a Teacher's Assistant during my senior year in high school. I worked in a classroom of about 20 students and I loved every single moment that I spent with my students. I also volunteered for Big Brothers Big Sisters for two years and mentored a first grade student as well as a fifth grade student. I have tutored many students in high school and in college as well.
As a student, I never struggled with school. I was always the helper. I helped students understand and complete their work. I think it is necessary and crucial that every student get the attention they need in order to succeed. As a tutor, I want to encourage students to like school and to bring out the positive aspects about learning. I want students to be comfortable asking questions so they can learn the tools necessary to attain a better education.
Experience
The past four years have bene some of the best four years of my life! I had the opportunity to tutor a young lady, a freshman in high school, who struggled a lot in school, especially in math. I got to see this young lady go from failing all of her classes to receiving A/B Honor Roll on her report cards.
