Fun Facts

I'm an avid rock climber, coffee drinker, and literary enthusiast. My favorite rocks are in Southern Illinois, my favorite coffee shop is Filter in Wicker Park, and my favorite author is Dostoyevsky.

About Me

I'm a senior studying Philosophy and Literature at the chicago">University of Chicago. My focus is on Skepticism and potentialities of belief, and I'm currently spending most of my free time working (frantically) on grad school applications. If all goes as planned, I'll be entering into a Ph.D program in Philosophy at the beginning of next year.

My previous chicago">tutoring experience was with Upward Bound, a program hosted through maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">columbia-college">maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">Columbia College. Upward Bound is a federally funded program which aims to help students from low-income families get into college; I was a chicago">tutor and a teacher's assistant in various reading and writing classes. While the humanities are definitely my strongest focus, I do have experience with more generalized chicago">tutoring in science and mathematics through a high school level as well.

My approach is based on questioning and listening, a constant look at fundamentals, and a sensitivity to the nuances necessary for advanced thought. chicago">Tutoring should aim towards the acquisition of the mental skills and organization necessary for success, rather than just improved test scores or grades in isolation. As a relentless nerd, I hope that my own sincere enthusiasm for esoterica and the value inherent to learning can be transferred to those with whom I work.
