Fun Facts

One fun fact that some people don't know when they first meet me is that I was valedictorian of my high school, St. Scholastica Academy, when I graduated in May of 2011. I love playing sports, especially basketball, and I broke my high school's record of "most career rebounds" with 768 rebounds in all. If I'm not playing sports, I spend my free time dancing, writing poetry, or listening to music.

About Me

I am the youngest of seven siblings and the first sibling to go to a major university in the United States. I have a strong work ethic and enjoy working with children. My goal is to become a pediatric surgeon or a neurologist. I am very driven to pursue my goal and most of my motivation comes from my mother.

I was a peer chicago">tutor at St. Schoalstica Academy during my junior and senior years of high school. I tutored mostly in Geometry, Algebra I, and Spanish I and II. I was a chicago">tutor on a needed-basis and sessions usually lasted for 30 minutes during school hours when the student and I had free time. I enjoyed being a chicago">tutor at my high school because I was able to see the progress the students were making during the year. Sometimes other students would come up to me during lunch or after school to ask for help with school work, which was a bit overwhelming at times. However, I liked the fact that my status as a peer mentor at school allowed other students to feel more comfortable about asking for help.

I feel that patience is the most important quality to have as a chicago">tutor. As a peer chicago">tutor in high school, I have learned that different students grasp the material differently than others including myself. The key is to understand the student's method of learning and adapt a teaching style that is suitable to how the student learns. This approach will help the student examine his or her learning methods and capabilities that could be applied to other courses as well. If a chicago">tutor can accomplish this task for the student, the chicago">tutor can be seen as an important educational mentor.
