Fun Facts
I am the middle child of a family of five; I always hate admitting to my middle child syndrome. I love playing tennis and being outdoors. I have one cat and one dog that basically are my children. I lived in Stockton almost all of my life and have just recently moved to Sacramento to attend school. I am looking forward to making Sacramento my home and becoming connected to the community here.
About Me
I am in my third year at Sacramento State University. I am completing my biology major but I will be applying to the nursing school at Sacramento State. When I fist began my college career I wanted to become a doctor, however, after becoming a certified nursing assistant my career path has changed and I hope to become a nurse.
Experience
I have been a member of the Sacramento State Science Educational Equity program for two years now, which has given me an abundance of experience tutoring and being tutored by my fellow peers. The subjects I most often tutored in where in the sciences, however, I have a passion for literature and writing. I have always been a person to extend a helping hand. Although I do not have paid experience being a tutor, I believe my experience is more than sufficient to ensure my effectiveness as a tutor.
Approach
Learning should be a fun and enjoyable experience, and unfortunately many students do not feel this way. I would provide the motivation and enthusiasm to make learning a positive activity while still ensuring the student is absorbing the academic information. Students will gain confidence through our tutoring sessions as I guide them towards the correct answers, but will encourage them to come to the final conclusions on their own.

Biology
Biology Tutoring
I am completing my undergraduate degree in Biology, so I have extensive experience in Biology courses. The courses I have completed are: Introductory Biology, Cellular Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Anatomy, and Psychology of Biology. Having a strong foundation in the sciences starts with Biology, and I look forward to aiding students understanding if this amazing subject.
English Tutoring
Through out middle school and high school I was enrolled in the Gifted and Talented Education (G.A.T.E.) program. This allowed me access to more difficult classes to challenge the students in the program. I was able to enroll in advanced placement English and Literature classes. When I enrolled in college I received college credits for my high school advanced placement tests in English and Literature. During high school I had the opportunity to aid elementary students in reading comprehension, which consisted of the student reading a passage from a test booklet and interpreting the purpose and meaning of the passage.
Science Tutoring
My major in Biology has exposed me to an array of Science disciplines. I have taken courses in Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. My experience tutoring in majority is specified to college courses, however I would love the opportunity to make science the favorite subject for the students I work with and give them the strong science foundation to aid them in years to come.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
Throughout high school I was enrolled in all the advanced placement classes in English and Literature. In college I have taken two English classes. The importance of writing and literature can not be emphasized enough. In high school I aided elementary students in reading comprehension, which consisted in the student reading a passage and interpreting the meaning and purpose of the passage.
