Fun Facts

I am an avid swimmer! I swam competitively since I was 8, and I have my times somewhere in the US Swim Team database. I was the youngest participant in the Heart of the Sound Triathlon for 3 straight years, having to create my own age category.

I was originally planning on majoring in music, even going so far as playing jazz professionally and joining the UW Husky Marching Band. But after thinking about my life priorities and befriending professionals, I knew music was not the route for me.

About Me

I am a senior Electrical Engineering major at Seattle University, focusing on power. My 2 year plan after graduating is to get any job relating to my experience and eliminating my debt. My 5 year plan is to be completely financially independent such that I can leave my job to pursue what I really wanted to do with my degree; innovation and automation with my own firm. My 10 year plan is to build my dream house and have the lifestyle that rivals Elon Musk and Tony Stark (if he were real).

Experience

I started out 3 years ago, volunteering for the Science and Math tutoring center at Seattle Central College for the purpose of paying my knowledge forward with the hopes other students can learn from my struggles. During that time, I developed professional relationships with the faculty directors, dean and students that are accountable towards their success. My influence brought me to other parts of SCC, now working for MESA and TRiO programs as well. I also do private tutoring on my own time.

Approach

It is my observation (and personal experience) that the students that don't have solid long-term goals beyond school are the students that struggle the most. If you don't know WHY you are in school, WHY you are taking the class, how can you expect to succeed? For me, when I planned my future as vividly as my imagination can dream, I asked myself, "Are you going to let calculus get in the way of your future?" I pose that question to all of my students to develop their drive for success.
