Fun Facts

An interesting fact about me is that I love to travel to new places and try new foods! I am the third of six children, and the first to move to the DMV area in my family. I also love Starbucks, nothing makes me happier. I love the television show Vampire Diaries, even took a literature course on vampires in undergrad. I hope to explore my love for theater and acting as well.

About Me

I am a new graduate student at Howard University pursuing a Master's in Counseling Services. I earned a Bachelor's of Science in Communicative Sciences and Disorders from University of Mississippi, with a minor in Spanish. Hotty Toddy! My ultimate goal is to have my own private practice in Counseling Services, also to own a chain of spas.

Experience

During my undergraduate years at the University of Mississippi, I worked as a writing tutor at the University Writing Center for three years (from sophomore to senior year). I have sometimes also tutored in spare time for free. With this, I have assisted writing across all stages and subjects. This included reading comprehension, brainstorming, editing strategies and proofreading.

Approach

Throughout my experience as a writing tutor, I have found that it is common that students struggle with understanding assignments and formulating ideas. I have also noticed that many the things that students struggle with, I have struggled with myself as an upcoming scholar. This helped me establish a working relationship with students and clients, as I was able to learn with them as I tutored. I have found this approach helpful for my students.
