About Me

Hello! I am Rory. My friends would say that I am bubbly, friendly, and passionate about life. I absolutely love education, and have known I wanted to be a teacher since the age of 5. Nothing empowers me more than learning about the world I live in, and helping young students experience that "aha!" moment. I love to embrace all the beauty and diversity the world has to offer, and am always excited to meet new people, and discover new perspectives :)

Experience

I graduated from California State University of Northridge in 2019, with a BA Degree in Deaf/Disability Studies, as well as a minor in Child development. I am currently a Graduate student at University of San Diego, and am pursuing a Master Degree of Education, as well as a Dual credential in both General Education and Mild to Moderate special education. I have completed 2 years of full time student teaching, and have been tutoring in a variety of subjects since middle school !

Approach

As I grew up facing numerous challenges, I had to figure out ways of teaching myself in school, in a way that catered to my kinesthetic-visual learning style and my creative mind. This started me on a journey of helping others discover the ways they best learn, as this can be used as a tool to benefit you the rest of your life. No two students learn alike, and learning should be adjusted based on the needs of the learner. I listen to my students, and give them a choice in their learning.
