Fun Facts
Two things that I really enjoy are animals and theater. I always have at least 2 dogs at home, all adopted or rescued. I also enjoy watching wildlife around me. Watching animals interact with others and their surroundings fascinates me. I was involved in theater for 8 years and still enjoy going to see plays and musicals whenever possible.
About Me
Currently I am working on my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential in the Elementary Education Department at CSUN. I just completed my first semester of the program with a 3.66 GPA.I have my Associates of Arts with a focus on teaching early childhood- 6th grade and my Bachelors of Arts in Liberal Studies. I hope to be teaching in one of the school districts in the Valley next fall.
My style of tutoring focuses on the student finding the answer on their own with guidance from me. If students are always told what the answers are they will not be able to apply the skills. I believe students should learn how to use the skill, then they will be able to apply the skill to any situation.
Experience
Throughout my higher education, I have 100 plus hours of classroom observations where I worked with students ranging from kindergarten and 5th grade. For my credential, I have been required to teach math and English language arts. Over the past summer I was a teacher with the YMCA's youth summer camp where I taught and worked with 25 kids. At camp, we focused on the STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and math).
Approach
During elementary and middle school, I moved around a lot so I struggled with making friends. I have had experiences with being bullied and I think that has helped me become a stronger person. I feel I can provide students with a listening ear and advice on how to handle situations. I have found that perseverance and a positive attitude can go a long way. For students struggling with school, I have found that positive encouragement and providing multiple strategies allows students to flourish.

Science has always come naturally to me. I have taken biology, chemistry, geology, earth science and astronomy, all at the college level.
