I had my first washington-dc">tutoring experience in high school, when I volunteered as a washington-dc">tutor at an all-girls middle school in a low-income area near me. I felt truly rewarded when I helped these students with their homework and helped them reach success on tests, that I wanted to washington-dc">tutor more. My freshman year of college I tutored for a company called BearPaw, LLC, where I tutored a third grade student at a DC Public School in math. Again, these rewarding experiences caused me to want to continue washington-dc">tutoring. At the beginning of my summer vacation, I also substitute taught in my public school system at home, so I am familiar with curriculum and lesson plans for different grade levels.
As a child, I witnessed my younger brother struggle with basic organization, which caused him to have trouble reaching his best potential in school, despite the fact he was extremely bright. When he reached high school, I observed how his washington-dc">tutor treated him and helped him reach success. She always had a positive attitude, showed an interest in his life, and asked him alot of questions, about both schoolwork and other topics. Additionally, he enjoyed working with her because she made learning fun and entertaining for him. I strive to follow in this washington-dc">tutor's footsteps and do the same with my clients as my brother's washington-dc">tutor did with him.
