Through participating in a biomedical engineering curriculum, I learned to critically think about different subjects and how they relate to each other, which I use to tutor and help students understand. I also aim to instill critical thinking techniques when teaching, allowing students to move away from memorization and towards logical thinking and problem solving.
Experience
I have about 6 years of experience tutoring over 80 students, from elementary to college age with great success. In the past I've tutored Math (Pre-Algebra, Algebra, College Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus I/II and Differential Equations), Chemistry, Biology, and Test Preparation (SAT, GRE, PSAT, GMAT). Teaching is something I really love to do, there's nothing better than witnessing the "light bulb" moment.
Approach
When tutoring I try to incorporate a comfortable and fun environment to promote learning. I feel that the more comfortable one is when learning, the more beneficial the lesson will be. I try to build my students' confidence in order for them to feel comfortable asking questions and communicating their weaknesses. In this way I try to direct my teaching to each student's learning style and learning rate. I also try to promote good organization and study techniques.
