For one, I am a big movie buff. I love going to the movies when I can find the time; my passion for stories is tied to this hobby! Also, I love food--I just moved to Chicago, so I am excited to try out new restaurants throughout all the Chicago neighborhoods. Like many of my tutees, I am tied to my family: I have a younger brother and sister; my brother is a medical technician at Loretto Hospital, and my sister is completing her senior year of high school. About Me
I am a current English graduate student at DePaul University. I am the graduate assistant for the English Undergraduate Program and am also the editor our the department website, The Underground. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Secondary Education from carroll-university">John carroll-university">Carroll University in Cleveland, OH. For the past two years, I worked as a high school counselor and English faculty member at Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy.
With my background as a teacher, I have much experience chicago">tutoring students at different ages. Currently, I am looking to help chicago">tutor students throughout the Chicago area while pursuing my higher education. I love literature, writing, and the mainly the power of stories. I love to teach and help kids of all ages. I hope that I can be a strong, positive influences on any of my future tutees!
My approach to chicago">tutoring and mentoring is developing a positive, caring relationship with my students. I want to know the goals that the student has for his/her self and how he/she would want to achieve that. I believe that learning is most effective when the learner understands what his/her needs are; once the student has an idea of this, I can best help them achieve their goals. I hope to make my students motivated and provide them with constant support and encouragement.
