I have an odd obsession with the moon and stars, and I will take every opportunity to go stargazing even if I don't know any of the constellations.
About Me
I am currently a second semester freshman at Brown University, planning to concentrate in Neuroscience or Public Health. As of now, I am on the pre-med track, and I hope to ultimately practice medicine or work with organizations such as Doctors Without Borders. I have always wanted to help people no matter where I am, and each person I can help encourages me to continue reaching out to people in need.
Experience
During my junior year of high school, three of my peers and I started a small tutoring business called TinoTutors in our hometown of Cupertino, California. I tutored various levels of math, science, reading comprehension, and writing to students of all age groups 7-8 hours a week. In addition, I was a member of Cupertino Science Tutors, National Honor Society, and California Scholarship Federation throughout my high school career
Approach
I know that each and every person approaches learning a different way, and I always want to nurture my students' own learning style. By being patient and encouraging, I guide my students to discover the answer themselves, and I think one of the best feelings is when they have an "aha!" moment in their learning. I believe that by helping students learn the subject they are struggling with , I can reinforce study skills that they can take with them for the rest of their lives.
