About Me
I am a graduate student at NYU, and I will graduate with a master degree in mathematics in 2013. I earned my Bachelor degree in Mathematics and minor in physics from Polytechnic Institute of New York University. My goal is to get into a PhD. program next year and become a professor who teach and do research in applied mathematics and science.
I have tutored mathematica and physics since 2004. Besides my teaching experiences, I have done research related to applied mathematics. I participated in the Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) programs at lafayette-college">Lafayette College and Cornell University in summer 2008 and 2009, respectively. I worked on a spatial population cellular model under Dr. Reiter, and studied Julia sets under Dr. Strichartz. Ever since I started my graduate studies, I spent more time on research than teaching. However, I would love to start working with students again.
My approach varies depending on the student's needs and learning style. I would like to encourage students to think for themselves and use real-world examples wherever possible. I usually start from topics the students are comfortable or familiar with and move gradually towards more complex areas as their confidence builds. I always use questions and homework to check understanding. My main goal is to build students' understanding and confidence in the concepts and tacking problems.
