Fun Facts
One of my most noticeable qualities is that I grew up in a very small town in southeast, Alaska. My graduating class had only 25 people in it, and it was the only school in town! Due to growing up in such a beautiful state I love doing activities outside, such as hiking and even training for half marathons! I also love animals, so when I'm at home I try to bring my malamute, Murphy, with me on my adventures.
About Me
I am a recent graduate with a degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Trinity University. I work in an undergraduate research lab studying proteins that participate in splicing and have been on the Dean's list for multiple semesters. I would ultimately like to get into an MD-PhD program and be trained as a clinical scientist because I love research and working directly with people, so this duel program would give me the perfect career opportunities.
Experience
I have been employed as a peer tutor at Trinity University for three semesters in a row. This included tutoring General Chemistry for two semesters, as well as Organic Chemistry 1. This gave me a fantastic opportunity to help my fellow Trinity Students in an environment that was more comfortable for students to ask questions and get help on their homework. I also held large review sessions for tests in O-chem, and came up with example problems to help students work through difficult concepts.
Approach
I have always enjoyed helping my fellow classmates, If I understood a concept before my study partners, I felt as though it solidified my understanding to teach the concept to a peer. This carried on in tutoring individuals with less experience than me, because I think every tutoring session is a learning experience for both the student and myself. Not only does this make me a more enthusiastic tutor, I believe it helps encourage students to be more excited about learning in all of their classes

Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
Biochemistry Tutoring
I received an A- in my introduction Biochemistry class and am involved in Biochemistry research outside of schools. In addition Biochemistry is one of my primary focuses for my major so I have been exposed to Biochemistry concepts throughout school. I also continued my education in chemistry by taking Physical Chemistry courses, and a chemistry-based drug design course that furthered my Biochemical knowledge.
Biology I Tutoring
I received a B in my Biology I class, but in addition I have been taking advanced biology classes throughout my study at Trinity that would allow me to explain concepts from a higher level of understanding.
Biology II Tutoring
I received an A in my Biology II class and continued taking upper level biology classes throughout my career at Trinity Such as Molecular Biology, Microbiology, and Genetics. This, along with helping my peers study, give me a good understanding of the subject.
Chemistry I Tutoring
I recieved an A in my General Chemistry class at Trinity University and I have previous experience tutoring General Chemsitry at as an employed peer tutor. This, along with taking Physical Chemistry and other upper division chemistry courses, such as Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry gives me a good understanding of the subject.
Chemistry II Tutoring
I received an A in my General Chemistry class at Trinity University, and have experience as an employed peer tutor for General Chemistry at Trinity. This, in addition to continuing my chemistry education with other upper division courses such as Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry, gives me a good understanding of the subject.
Organic Chemistry I Tutoring
I received a B+ in my Organic Chemistry I course at Trinity University, and have worked as a peer tutor for Organic I at the school. This, along with my continued education by taking Organic Chemistry II, Biochemistry and Physical Chemistry, gives me a solid foundation to work with students needing help in this subject.
Organic Chemistry II Tutoring
I received an A in my Organic Chemistry II course at Trinity University, and have served as an Organic Chemistry I peer tutor at the college. This along with my continued education in Biochemistry and Physical Chemistry gives me a solid foundation to work with students on their understanding of these subjects.
AP Chemistry Tutoring
I believe my college level understanding of chemistry, and previous experience as a General Chemistry tutor, gives me a solid foundation with which to work from. In addition, I have continued my chemistry studies to Physical Chemistry, which gives me a more thorough understanding of the concepts introduced in high school-level chemistry courses. My understanding of these concepts is shown in my academic achievements with grades of a B+ or higher in all of my chemistry lecture courses.
Biology AP Tutoring
I have experience succeeding in Integrative Biology classes in college, that have taught me important introductory biological concepts. In addition, I continued my education in biology by participating in advanced biology courses such as Genetics, Microbiology, and Molecular Biology. I succeeded academically in all of these classes, and received grades of a B+ or above for all of the upper division courses.

Science Tutoring
My major at Trinity University is an integrative one that uses both Chemistry and Biology to understand biological and non-biological processes. This has allowed me to take courses in almost all of the scientific disciplines offered at Trinity University, covering the most basic ones such as Physics, Chemistry and Biology. I believe this broad understanding will allow me to help students develop an appreciation of the scientific method, and hopefully encourage an enthusiasm for learning more about scientific disciplines.
