Fun Facts

I love make up and doing make overs! If I could combine that and studying Greek and Roman literature I would be in heaven! I also enjoy planning extensive vacations across the world through online travel websites. I hope that after I finish school I am able to explore at least one new country a year, starting with Iceland!So far, I have only been to Quebec but hopefully next summer I will have the opportunity to explore Panama!

About Me

I started my college experience at Tarrant County College South Campus as an advertising major in 2008. I began tutoring at the college level 2009 when I was only enrolled for half time (6 hours). I had previously tutored in high school for English, AP History and Economics. I also was in tutoring for both Chemistry and Calculus (I'm not much of a Math person without extra help). It's always been a great feeling to help someone else gain understanding of a subject. Similarly, I enjoyed being tutored for the "ah ha!" moment I received when all the aspects of a Math equation finally come together for me.

In the spring of 2011, after talking with my English professor, I took my first education class. I completely fell in love with being in the classroom and helping students have their own "ah ha!" moments. I officially changed my major in the fall semester of 2011. I completed my Associate of Arts in Teaching at TCC and graduated in May of 2012. I am now ecstatic to be a Horned Frog and to be a part of Frog Tutoring! I look forward to one day having my own English class! Maybe even abroad in Japan or New Zealand!

I believe that even our weaknesses can be turned into strengths with the right approach. When I tutor, I try to build on the strengths of a student or peer to make the new information valuable on a personal level. I believe that by building existing knowledge a student is more likely to retain the lesson which helps create a basis for new lessons. Every student is different and all have limitless possibilities in life, but sometimes we need help in completing the tough stuff!
