Fun Facts

In my free time, I love yoga, running, and being outside. I love nothing more than a beautiful sunny day, it puts me in such a great mood. I love arts, crafts, flea marketing, and being around others.

About Me

I am a recent Cum Laude, December 2015 TCU graduate with a Bachelors of Science in Nutrition (DPD). I have a year of experience in tutoring, specifically nutrition. I am passionate about math, science and nutrition and LOVE teaching. I graduated with a 3.6, and a 4.0 my last 3 semesters. Although I am still deciding my ultimate goal, I plan to pursue a Master's Degree in Nutrition or Genetics in Fall 2016.

Experience

As a TA for the Nutrition 20403 class, I had the opportunity to tutor students one on one throughout the semester. I was able to offer them a comprehensive review over each chapter before each exam. I found the experience extremely rewarding and would love to continue helping students learn in an approachable, personalized way.

Approach

As a freshman college student I lacked the study skills I had needed to be successful. I quickly realized the study skills that had been sufficient in high school and even middle school needed some modification. I have come to believe in gaining a comprehensive understanding of a course rather than simply memorizing material for the sake of an exam. As a tutor I encourage students to make these important connections for improved overall understanding and confidence in the class.

Nutrition Tutoring

As a nutrition major I have a compressive background in all areas of nutrition from Medical Nutrition Therapy, Advanced Nutrition, Experimental Foods, Gourmet Foods and Community Nutrition.

Anatomy Physiology I Tutoring

I have taken A&P at both the high school and college level and find the subject truly fascinating. I received an A in high school and a B in college due to a heavy course load taken in conjunction with the course. I feel confident in my knowledge at the high school level.

Biology Tutoring

I entered TCU as a biology major. Consequently, my first two years had an heavy emphasis on biology and life sciences. My nutrition courses also place a heavy emphasis on various biological functions, since after all nutrition is another life science.

Pre Calculus Tutoring

Although I tested out of Calculus at the college level, I have excelled at math since high school when a teacher finally had the explanations that "clicked". Although I struggles with math in middle school, I feel I know what it takes to gain confidence in math courses and am a testament of drastic improvement in the subject.

Homework Coach Tutoring

I am a strong believer that hard-workers reap the rewards. Homework often seems overwhelming and tedious. With someone like me to walk you through the things you find most intimidating, time consuming or even boring, homework can be more of a positive learning experience than a burden.

Math Tutoring

Math through elementary school and middle school was challenging for me. I remember the struggle of middle school math and how confusing it seemed. In high school, math suddenly made sense and I have loved the subject since.

Pre Algebra Tutoring

Pre-Algrebra was the portion of math I had initially found most difficult. I remember the struggle of middle school math and how confusing it seemed. In high school, math suddenly made sense and I have loved the subject since.
