About Me
I am 22 years of age. I am a senior at the miami">University of Miami. I was born and raised in Miami, however I am of Jamaican, Spanish and Chinese descent. I am a team player, compassionate, helpful, and hard-working person. I enjoy miami">tutoring because it combines my love for helping others with my passion for academics. My hobbies include reading and playing tennis.
My love for miami">tutoring started many years ago while I was in middle school at George Washington Carver Middle School in Coconut Grove. Based on my academics and the willingness to help others, I was selected by my teachers to assist the students of a local elementary school who were falling behind in their academics.
When I attended Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart, I volunteered and taught reading and math to children at “Barnyard”, a charitable organization that offers afterschool miami">tutoring to less fortunate children.
As a result of that experience, I was able to assist my mother (a professor at Florida International University) with a miami">tutoring program she established in a church in Little Haiti. We not only provided free miami">tutoring services for students who newly arrived from Haiti, but we also provided free vision screening and meals to them.
I believe that it is the sole responsibility of the miami">tutor to aid the student with their academics. In order to accomplish this, the miami">tutor must be knowledgeable, and cognizant of the student's learning style, personality, and study habits. The miami">tutor must create a safe and enjoyable environment for the student so that they are able to reach their optimal academic potential.
