Fun Facts
I am the lead singer in a feminist post-punk band called French Vanilla. We have toured all over Southern CA and Mexico over the last 3 years. I am passionate about music, with broad knowledge of music history and styles. I am also in an all-women's choir that performs seasonally around LA. I used to be a competitive volleyball player, and I was the only freshman on my varsity high school team which won the CA Division IV championships in 2008. I am currently teaching myself guitar and keys.
About Me
I graduated with honors from UCLA School of Art and Architecture in 2012. I have since been working for galleries, museums, and professional artists in both administrative and fabricative contexts. I have always been interested in teaching, and in sharing educational privileges I enjoyed throughout my own time in school.
I strongly believe in the power of a good education, being in equal access available to all people, to actualize positive global change.
Experience
As a member of the Crossroads/Aim High program at my high school, Marin Academy, I had the opportunity to tutor ESL students from low income backgrounds in an after school program for a total of 4 years. Addressing issues of growing educational disparity in my local community gave me a sense of purpose, and the improved performance of students I fostered relationships with continues to inspire me today.
Approach
Throughout school, I struggled the most with Math. When I was a senior in high school, I was nervous that any math course I signed up for, I would fail. One academic advisor suggested I try Statistics. This class completely changed the way I thought about math, as it contextualized equations in real life. Having a full idea of how information will help you function outside the academic world is a powerful tool that I seek to share with students I tutor.

I am a voracious reader with particular knowledge and expertise in Victorian literature, Classics, and Latin poetry.

I got perfect scores in Reading Comprehension both times I took the SAT exam. As an avid reader, reading comprehension is something I practice in my daily life.
Spanish I Tutoring
I have 4 years of Spanish under my belt, and got a 5 on the AP Spanish exam in high school, allowing me to place out of the language requirement at UCLA.
Study Skills Tutoring
I have always been a straight-A student, in no small part due to my advanced organizational abilities. I am an excellent test-taker because I know how to study, and I am confident in sharing effective study techniques with students.
Writing Tutoring
I got perfect scores on my SAT Writing test, both times I took the exam. I have written countless informational, analytical, and argumentative essays throughout my educational career.

I scored a 5 on the AP American History exam in high school

English has always been my strongest subject. I have a vast vocabulary and confidence in my reading, writing, and otherwise communicative abilities.
Homework Coach Tutoring
I've never missed an assignment or been late in turning in an assignment, except for under legitimate extensive circumstances. I am super organized, and I understand the importance of being neat in how it impacts educational life and beyond.
Religion Tutoring
I have studied different religions extensively outside of the institutional context, one such study culminating in a trip to Israel to explore the history of genocide and the Holocaust. I think often of the differentiation between "Never Again" and "Never Forget." I have an un-biased and engaged perspective on religious issues facing the global community.
