Fun Facts

I love learning new languages! I grew up in Honduras speaking Spanish and English, then moved to Chicago where I was exposed to many cultures. Apart from English and Spanish, I have studied French, Portuguese and Arabic.
I also love dancing. Whether it is bachata, salsa, ballet, Zumba class every Tuesday night, or traditional Tahitian dancing, I enjoy them all.

About Me

I graduated from Lane Tech High School in Chicago with a 5.0 GPA, and am now a freshman at Northwestern University. Pursuing a major in Biology and a minor in Spanish, I am also in the Pre-Medical program. My dream is to become a doctor (most likely Pediatrician) and work back home in Latin America.

Experience

Throughout high school, I worked in Shedd Aquarium's Teen Work-Study Program. After being a participant in the program for a year, I became one of the two mentors. As a mentor my responsibilities included training, supervising, and providing support to a group of 12-15 high school students. Although I did not technically tutor them, I gained valuable leadership experience as well as knowledge on being a resource and someone the student's could go for advice

Approach

My tutoring approach is going to vary and be specific to every student individually. I am willing to think out of the box in order to help the student understand concepts that might be difficult. My goal is for the students to feel comfortable not only with material from class, but also with their ability to solve problems and succeed on their own. I can promise an encouraging, positive attitude as well as a genuine desire to help.
