Fun Facts

One of my passions is music and playing the guitar! Any time I have time available I listen to music and practice playing. I am the oldest boy of a family of seven. I've always lived in CA. Although it sounds boring, studying new concepts and reading books is really exciting and fun.

About Me

I am a recent graduate from Fresno State with a degree in Accounting and Economics. I've been on the Dean's list multiple times during my college experience, and was on the President's list for the Fall 2009. My goal is to become a well established professional, and one day be a professor of Economics and Accounting.

As a student Assistant for UC Merced: Center for Educational Partnerships for 3 years I had the opportunity to learn a lot of different teaching styles, and even taught many math classes. I tutored basically anything they needed help with. I even taught myself calculus to help some students who were taking calculus. During my time with Fresno State's Learning Center, I became a well established accounting fresno">tutor and became very skilled in communicating abstract concepts to students who are struggling. The learning center required fresno">tutors to go through fresno">tutor training, and I completed every one them. The Agriculture department has their own accounting curriculum, but I was able to also fresno">tutor agriculture accounting with ease. During this time I also did private fresno">tutoring with students, e.g. one student had dyslexia. The accounting department also recommended me for a graduate student who was in the MBA program. I did private fresno">tutoring for him in Economics, Finance, and Management Accounting.

I have a very unique fresno">tutor philosophy. I have been at times described as deep thinking and intense, but I do know how to adapt to a more appropriate style if a student needs to go slower. Every student is different, but from my experience everyone learns better when they appreciate what they are learning and they realize the value of what they are learning. That being said, I advocate strongly in the Socratic method and Active Listening as the fresno">tutoring style of choice. Questions provide an invaluable way of steering a students thought process in a way that they come to the answer on their own. It is also more effective in helping the student retain what they've learned

Experience

As a State of CA employee, I help provide benefits to people who are unable to work due to having a disability. My experience with fresno">tutoring has been far reaching and extensive from my college days.

Approach

My approach to fresno">tutoring is thorough but integrative by helping the student understand the importance of what they are learning.
