About Me
As I stated earlier, I was born and raised in the great state of California. I am from the beautiful bay area, so I am used to great weather. I am currently a student at Brown University. I am currently studying community Health and Biology, but I have a great interest in Marine Biology. I have a passion for nutrition and I enjoy cooking, so I want to have a focus on nutrition (and preventative care) in my community health studies. In addition to providence">tutoring, I am a part-time intern at the Museum of Science in Boston.
I have had many experiences providence">tutoring in the past. During my freshman year at Brown I was a providence">tutor for a company called BearPaw providence">Tutors. Through that group I went into downtown Providence and tutored struggling middle school students in low-income public schools. I assisted the students with their homework in each subject and worked with them with skill building activities so that they could perform at grade level. My sophomore year I was a mentor for the New Scientist Program (a program for minorities concentrating in science at Brown University). I was assigned a student and I would meet with him weekly to help him choose classes, practice study habits, get organized, get involved in activities, and have a positive experience at school. I would also assist him with any issues he was having in school. This past summer I was a providence">tutor for The Community College Foundation in Davis, California. For this company I worked with low-income and foster kids from ages 5 to 17. I assessed the kids to see where they needed assistance to perform at grade level. Many students had gaps in there learning from having to move around. I gave them skill builders, assessments and practice problems to help them get on track. This was one of my favorite jobs so far.
My approach to providence">tutoring really depends on the student. I try to assess and listen to understand the learning style of my student. I like to use visual aids, outlines, and practice problems. My white board comes in h
