Fun Facts
I started playing piano in first grade and loved it so much that I picked up violin, clarinet, and tenor saxophone, too, over the years. My favorite instrument is the clarinet, in which I take lessons at the Peabody Conservatory and play with a symphony. I also love dancing all types of dance and am a member of a tap dancing team! In my free time, I enjoy trying out new recipes in the kitchen, playing board games, and working out at the gym.
About Me
I graduated from Johns Hopkins University as a Chemistry major with a music minor in December 2015 with a 3.83 GPA. I was on Dean's List every semester in school. As an undergraduate, I was president of a middle school tutoring organization known as Charm City Science League and captain of my tap dancing team. Next year, I hope to attend medical school since my ultimate goal is to become a physician.
Experience
Ever since my freshman year as an undergraduate, I have had the opportunity to mentor middle school students on a weekly basis as a member of Charm City Science League. Helping my students understand basic STEM subjects such as the water cycle to more complex topics such as electricity has truly been an eye opening experience. My favorite times are sharing in those "a-ha" moments when a difficult subject all of sudden becomes easy for my mentee.
Approach
When I was younger, I found it hard to have the motivation to study and to do my homework in general. In high school, I was lucky enough to have a teacher who helped motivate me to work hard by thinking outside the box and making learning fun. While tutoring, I try to inspire my students similarly, through positive encouragement and creative learning strategies. By guiding my students to the answers, I hope they not only learn the subject, but also new study skills to use in the future!
