About Me
I am a recent graduate of Spelman College where I earned a Bachelor's of Arts in English. In the fall of 2019, I will be a first year law student at Emory University School of Law. Upon graduating from law school, I aspire to practice civil litigation and medical malpractice law.
Experience
During my freshman year, I tutored high school and middle school students in all areas. During my senior year of high school, I tutored my peers in the areas they struggled in the most and I assisted with ACT prep classes. Throughout all 4 years of college, I worked in the on-campus writing center as a Peer Tutor.
Approach
When I meet a new student, I ask for their classwork or homework and give them a small assessment to help me gauge their level of understanding. After analyzing their scores, I plan my sessions accordingly so my students can achieve maximum comprehension and real-world application. I take into account the learning style of each student to ensure my lessons are effectively tailored. I also make sure to incorporate fun into every lesson as it is equally important that students enjoy learning.

I have years of experience tutoring middle school students with all areas of math. I have study tools and assessments to advance their competency and capability.
Writing Tutoring
I have taken many classes in high school and college that have challenged and improved my writing. On every essay I write, I have it professionally reviewed by professors before submitting them. I will review my students' essays and writings multiple times before they submit them.
Pre Algebra Tutoring
In every math class I have taken, Pre-Algebra and Algebra, I have received an A. Math is a concept I struggle with so I push myself to find methods that make understanding math easier. I will work with students to break down the concepts in simple ways so that they can understand them easily.
Homework Coach Tutoring
I have helped hundreds of kids complete their homework. Depending on the assignment and number of kids, I will implement games and fun activities to encourage students to finish their work in a fun manner. I promote self-confidence and team building alongside better grades.
Study Skills Tutoring
I have taken study skill courses and attended many workshops about improving your study skills. I have a plethora of study skills in my arsenal for students to try. Every student is different so we will work together to figure out the best study skill for each student.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
I am currently taking a Shakespeare class which is advancing my skills of breaking down complicated and dense texts which is a huge part of reading comprehension. If you cannot break down and explain what you are reading, you do not understand as well as you could.
English Tutoring
I am currently an English major. I have taken Lit Studies, Critical Studies, and English Composition classes. I am currently taking a Shakespeare class. I have received A's in all of the English classes I have completed thus far.
