Fun Facts
I like a little bit of everything: psychology, mythology, art, history, physics, astronomy, math, literature, theater, historical fashion, east coast swing dancing, and film. When out of the city, you can find me stargazing with my telescope; I participated in an internship funded by NASA at the Fremont Peak Observatory. While in the city, you can find me devouring anything with words. My all time favorite novel is Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.
About Me
I am a Comparative Literature major at San Francisco State University. After I graduate, I would like to pursue a Master's degree and a PhD. Ultimately, I would like to teach at the University level and participate in excavations of ancient ruins.
Through S.F.S.U.'s Community Involvement Center Program, I earned school credit for tutoring at the OMI/Excelsior Beacon Center's after school program. I have a great amount of experience with children--particularly middle schools students through camp counseling. I have a year's worth of experience explaining the complex concepts of astronomy to people of all ages, through volunteering at my high school observatory and through being an intern at Fremont Peak Observatory.
My main goal as a tutor is to strengthen the student's skill level and increase the student's confidence in their abilities. I believe, and know from experience, that confidence can make all the difference in a student's approach to school and life. One of the most powerful experiences for me as a student was having a teacher who simply believed in me. I try and embody this as much as possible in my tutorial sessions. My mantra for students is to practice, practice, practice!
