Fun Facts
I love to travel and go outdoors! I have been all over Central America and will be traveling to Ivory Coast in Africa this summer. My ideal day would be spent hiking or exploring somewhere I've never been. Hands down my favorite place in the world is Muir Woods.
About Me
I am a first year graduate student at Ohio State University. I was born and raised in North Carolina, and this is my first time living out of the state. I am in the Anthropology Department, and I study primate behavior and ecology and hope to work in conservation. I graduated from Wake Forest University ('15) with a 3.74 GPA, a double major with anthropology and history, and honors in anthropology. My first semester at OSU I received a 4.0 GPA.
Experience
I have never worked as a tutor within organization, but I gained informal experience tutoring during my time as an undergraduate. I tutored women in my sorority and campus ministry in anthropology as well as history. I also helped children in low income housing developments with their homework. I am hoping to be a Graduate Teaching Associate at OSU this year, and have taken formal training to teach college-level students.
Approach
I find that the single most important aspect of being a teacher is encouragement. My favorite teachers were those who inspired me to ask questions and pushed me to answer them. As a tutor, I hope to inspire the same curiosity and empowerment within my students. I believe I have the perfect amount of positive energy and responsibility to make my sessions fun and productive.
