Fun Facts
I have been a Girl Scout for over 15 years now. I am a leader of a second grade Brownie troop, and it is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. I also enjoy swimming, reading, and watching TV and movies. I am a HUGE Taylor Swift fan, and I love all other kinds of music, too. I hope to be able to travel all over the country and the world some day. So far I have been to the UK and Germany.
About Me
I graduated from San Jose State University with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Mathematics. I am currently attending SJSU again to earn a single subject teaching credential in mathematics. I hope to some day continue my education with a Masters in Counselor Education and a Doctorate in Education. I have a passion for learning, and I'm just not ready to stop!
I have been tutoring all ages off and on for the last 6 years. I have also volunteered in two different Algebra 1 classes, one for the summer and one for the entire school year. As a senior in high school, I earned my Girl Scout Gold Award by planning and running a six week after school math tutoring program for local 4th and 5th graders. I am now doing my Phase 1 student teaching at Independence High School, where I am working in a Geometry class.
When I tutor math, I really focus on raising confidence while also teaching content. I have found that confidence can hold back so many students that already understand the content, but they just don't know it yet! As a student in the credential program, I also take what I am learning in my classes and apply that to my tutoring as well.
