I love to play sports - my two favorite are basketball and baseball. I was the only student from my high school graduating class to come to Quinnipiac University. I also love to cook, even though I have not quite mastered it yet.

About Me

Hello, my name is Matthew, but everyone usually calls me Matt. I'm from Long Island, New York and attended Islip High School. I am currently a senior at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT. I am a Spanish major and a Mathematics minor and one day I hope to spend a good amount of time in Spain, immersing myself in their incredible culture. I am presently in the 5-year MAT program at QU, which will hopefully lead to me becoming a middle school Spanish teacher. I would also love to coach basketball at the school because I have a passion for the game and I love seeing children succeed in both academics and athletics.

While I was a senior in High School, I tutored one child in Mathematics, who was a freshman at the time. This child's success is in part what pushed me to pursue a career in this field. I have also been tutored for test preparation (SAT/ACT) before, so I know what it's like to be a student who is being tutored.

In my opinion, and based on past experiences, students will learn the material best, when they WANT to learn it and it is interesting to them. No one wants to learn something that bores them out of their misery. So, my goal is to make the subject material as relatable and as interesting as possible to the child, so they will in turn become more interested in the subject.
