Fun Facts
I am very passionate about health and wellness. I love to practice yoga and play tennis. I just took up a new hobby, indoor rock climbing, which is very challenging but fun too! I adore animals, especially dogs. I just became a therapy dog member with my dog Jasper and we are excited to start going on visits.
About Me
I graduated from Tulane University in 2013 with a degree in Communications and Psychology. I just finished up an internship at a public health non-profit and hope to pursue a Masters in Public Health.
Experience
I began tutoring in high school where I would volunteer at Philadelphia Public Schools in elementary reading. I worked a year as a full-time nanny and would help with homework on a daily basis. Last year I tutored a 5th grade boy in reading and writing and successfully raised his grade from a C to an A. I also have had recent success tutoring a friend in college with her writing and reading comprehension.
Approach
I believe with repetition, creativity, encouragement, and individualized attention anything is possible. I am an advocate for personalizing the material with a student's strengths and interests, That can mean presenting material visually, with metaphors or analogies, in songs and rhymes and pretty much whatever creative approach I deem fit. Study skills and organization are determinants of academic success and will always be addressed in sessions with me.
