Fun Facts

I will try anything once is my motto! I am very energetic and willing to do things outside of my comfort zone, for example, I just started indoor rock climbing. The outdoors, especially hiking is something that I enjoy doing when I feel the need to take a break from city life. I like trying new food and you will find me to be a typical extrovert.

About Me

I am nearing my 3rd year as a 10th grade English teacher.I have a Masters in Teaching. I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in April 2015 with a dual degree in English and History/ Political Science. As as student I made sure to make the most of my time at school by participating in clubs and conferences. I always aimed to push myself both educationally and socially.

Experience

In college, I received intensive training as a Peer Writing Consultant at the University of Pittsburgh's Writing Center. I am well versed in writing theory, and apply effective techniques to resolve any higher or lower order writing problems the student may face. I have experience tutoring ESL students, and with a background in counseling, I aim to increase confidence in the English language through an empathetic approach that utilizes coaching techniques.

I also have my Instructional I Cert.

Approach

When I am with a student, I first find out what subjects he/ she likes, and what appeals to them when learning. I analyze whether the student is a visual or auditory learner, and base my teaching tactics around that. I also like to apply real world situations in a lesson, in order to make it more applicable to the student. A game based approach toward learning is also something I employ. Why not making learning fun ?
