Fun Facts

I am in the unique position of having grown up on a farm in rural South Dakota. I've lived in washington/seattle">Seattle for a little over a year. I am the second oldest in a family of six. I've loved to read for as long as I've had the capability. My greatest passion is traveling and I had the honor of studying abroad in China before the Beijing Olympics. I'm a huge nerd who loves school and I enjoy sharing that excitement with others!

About Me

I am a sophomore Political Science major at washington/seattle">seattle-university">washington/seattle">Seattle University. I believe I will be switching into double majoring in Political Science and International Studies while minoring in Chinese. After graduation, I want to attend law school to specialize in International Law. My ultimate goal is to be able to impart positive change in the world. I would love to work for the United Nations or a Human Rights NGO.

While attending Lemmon High School in Lemmon, South Dakota, I was a member of National Honor Society. During this time I was able to volunteer my time at the elementary after-school program. This involved helping with homework and being a positive mentor in the kids' lives. I've been looking for a similar, rewarding experience since moving to washington/seattle">Seattle and Frog washington/washington/seattle">seattle">Tutoring has provided me with the opportunity!

Throughout my childhood, I was lucky enough to have amazing teachers that inspired me to be the best student possible. When I was eight years old, however, I had a terrible accident that resulted in a couple surgeries and I missed multiple weeks of school. I remember how difficult it was to be so far behind the rest of the class and how much harder I had to work. It was rough, but I surrounded myself with positive people and persevered and was able to move onto the next grade with my class. I want to help kids realize their full potential and empower them through learning. I plan on doing this by asking lots of questions, teaching how to actively read the material, and by showing them study skills that have helped me in my past.
