Fun Facts

I was very shy when I was little. I never wanted to talk to adults and I blushed quickly at the slightest bit of unwanted attention. That changed (a lot) when, at the age of 10, I joined an after-school circus program. It was just a neighborhood program that my mom signed me up for to keep me busy. I quickly learned that one could not be shy and in a circus simultaneously. I learned how to talk out loud...an also how to juggle. One of the best parts of my childhood, hands down!

About Me

I'm a junior Chemistry major at Yale University. I'm lucky to attend such an excellent university, and I enjoy exploring all sorts of classes and disciplines, ranging from philosophy to history of Japan to my major, chemistry. I've always loved chemistry, so it was easy for me to declare a major. However, I have not yet committed to any career path post-graduation. I'm considering medical school, but am also open to many other possibilities.

Throughout high school, I often tutored my friends and peers informally after school. I enjoyed the experience, so I after coming to college, I continued searching for other connecticut/new-haven">tutoring/teaching opportunities. After my freshman year, I had an amazing internship at Summerbridge San Francisco, a program that hires college students as classroom teachers to middle school students. It was the most challenging experience I have had to date, but well worth the while. I taught two classes of 10 students and created my own lesson plans, powerpoints, and lab experiments. In the afternoon, we had elective classes (I taught circus) and homework time. Since it was the first time I had to teach multiple students at once in a classroom setting, there was obviously a learning curve. However, I was grateful that we had homework time in the daily schedule so that I could catch up individually with students who were struggling. One-on-one connecticut/new-haven">tutoring is always to easiest way to teach concepts.

The reason that one-on-one connecticut/new-haven">tutoring is so much easier to teach that full classrooms is that a connecticut/new-haven">tutor can adjust lesson plans minute by minute to a student's needs. In math and science disciplines, comprehensive understanding of the concepts is key to successfully completing problems, and a connecticut/new-haven">tutor can tailor problems specifically to check a student's understanding. From my own learning experience, I know that concepts stick the best when you've struggled with them a while, so I will never just give you an answer without you struggling for it first. Don't worry, though, I promise our connecticut/new-haven">tutoring sessions will be painless and even fun!
