Fun Facts
Outside of my love for chemistry, a HUGE passion of mine has ALWAYS been music. I've played the piano since I was 8 and percussion since I was 12. I teach percussion at Odessa High School, play snare drum for the Kansas City Chiefs "Rumble" drumline, and recently started ringing for an auditioned handbell ensemble. I've also been fortunate enough to play snare drum for the Kansas City Royals drumline as well, getting to play in the World Series in 2014 and 2015!
About Me
I earned my undergraduate degree in Chemistry at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Originally studying to become a physician, I found my true calling in teaching after working as the Percussion Instructor at Odessa High School. Having the chance to educate students year after year is something that attracted me to a profession in education. I am currently pursuing a Masters of Art in Teaching at the central-missouri">University of Central Missouri. Due to my outstanding academic performance, I was recently inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success and the Central Missouri Academic Collegiate Scholars. I will begin my student teaching this fall, which gets me one step closer to becoming a teacher! I cannot wait to spread my love of chemistry to high school students. There is something truly inspiring about having a good teacher in your life, and I cannot wait to be that person for someone!
Teaching the young men and women of our future generations is overwhelmingly important. Successful doctors, lawyers, musicians, and politicians were once enthused by his or her favorite teacher. All students deserve the opportunity to learn from someone who not only passes on content knowledge, but one who challenges the student to become a confident discoverer of learning.
