I have lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico all of my life. However, I have traveled out of the state many times and to many places. As a college student, I spent 6 months traveling around Europe. Over the years, I’ve visited many states here in the US, as well as traveled to South America, Central America and many European countries. My husband and I enjoyed an extended vacation to Europe several years ago and returned after almost 8 months of visiting seventeen countries. I enjoy experiencing

About Me

I retired as a Systems Engineer from Sandia National Labs. Prior to beginning my career in the software engineering field, I was an elementary school teacher for 10 years. Since retiring, I have been a volunteer with a local refugee and asylee program helping with ESL classes and assisting with efforts to secure employment for the clients.

Experience

I have 28 years of experience in the software engineering field and 10 years of teaching experience. During my teaching tenure, I especially enjoyed teaching reading, creative writing and basic math to students. Because I am bilingual, I can communicate with Spanish-speaking students.

Approach

An important approach to teaching is realizing that a student needs to know basic facts. This applies to any subject the student is learning. They also need to be able to relate new facts to what they already know so that connections can be made between what has been learned and what is being learned.
