About Me
I am currently a sophomore at Pacific Lutheran University. I am studying secondary education because I love interacting with people younger than myself and being a mentor for them. After graduation, I plan on working towards an MA in English, the subject I want to teach!
I have been washington/washington/tacoma">tacoma">tutoring for three years! I have tutored three private, elementary school students in various subjects. I helped with math homework, flashcards, writing and reading. I also helped them plan ahead and schedule times to be finished with certain aspects of large projects. I have also tutored a geometry student at one of the local high schools. I helped her with her homework, kept track of her grades and attendance in all of her classes and scheduled days that we would spend extra time together to finish her missing assignments. I also helped her study for tests and made practice tests for her!
My approach to washington/washington/tacoma">tacoma">tutoring is one that involves much support and encouragement. I try to motivate the kids I'm washington/washington/tacoma">tacoma">tutoring and help them gain confidence in the subjects we're working on. I also like to remind them the importance of succeeding in school for the long-run. I think that it is much easier to deal with the work when the student is able to see the big picture. I make sure the students know that I am someone they can trust and get along with, but that I am also an authority figure that they need to listen to for their own benefit. I like to know the student's learning style, what works for them and what doesn't, so that we won't waste time doing something that will only further confuse them. I care about the kids I washington/washington/tacoma">tacoma">tutor, and I like to be up to date on their other classes, grades and school attendance so that we can make sure to balance their whole schooling experience.
