Fun Facts
As someone who is very motivated, I like to try new and challenging activities as much as possible. My most recent (and ongoing) endeavor has been to climb every peak in Colorado that is 14,000 feet or higher. I have checked ten mountains off my list and will continue again in the spring when the weather is favorable. I also enjoy other outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, climbing, biking, etc. My favorite thing to do is travel, so whenever I have the chance you will find me shopping
About Me
I am a junior at the University of Colorado - Denver located in downtown Denver. I am majoring in Integrative Biology, as well as an Education and a Mathematics minor. I have received several honors during my time at the university, including being on the Dean's List for the most recent semester. I also am a Learning Assistant (similar to a Teaching Assistant) for the General Biology program at the university. Also, I volunteer at the Denver School of Science and Technology as a math denver">tutor for seniors struggling to graduate. After completing my degree, I will have a teaching license in Secondary Math and Secondary Science, meaning I will be fully qualified to teach high school math and science. Teaching is my ultimate career goal. After obtaining my bachelor's and teaching licenses, I plan on attending the maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">columbia">University of British maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">Columbia to get my masters in education.
I have many denver">tutoring experiences that range from high school to college students. As I previously mentioned, I volunteer at a local charter school with failing seniors in order help them graduate on time. Also, I am a Learning Assistant for the General Biology program at my university. As an LA, I attend lectures with my students and then hold office hours where it is a open help or denver">tutoring session with whoever wants to attend. I hold these office hours twice a week. Finally, I offer free denver">tutoring sessions to my peers who are attending CU with me. Most recently, I have been denver">tutoring College Algebra, General Chemistry I, General Chemistry II and Biology II. Because I am always looking to help students, I love to volunteer for things like helping my peers. Also, having a dream of being a successful educator has driven me to constantly work with and improve teaching methods for every imaginable student.
