Fun Facts

Very few people would guess it, but I'm a third degree black belt in taekwondo. I have been studying the art for almost nine years and am working on becoming a certified instructor. I also love to read and rarely go anywhere without a book. I spend most of my free time either reading or crafting, such as knitting, embroidery, and crochet.

About Me

I am currently a junior at the University of Arizona. I am pursuing two separate degrees, a BS in physics and a BSE in Deaf Studies with an emphasis in Educational Interpreting. I hope to go to graduate school for physics at Stony Brook University in New York and work my way through my master's degree either by working in a physics lab or by interpreting sign language.

I began peer tucson">tutoring in fourth grade when I changed schools and found that my fifth and sixth grade friends were working on material I already knew. I first began tucson">tutoring professionally in 2011, when I was hired as an academic tucson">tutor by the Southern Arizona Association for the Visually Impaired. At the same time I began tucson">tutoring in a remedial algebra class at Tucson High School and began working as a private tucson">tutor when parents found my name and email address online.

I find that the most important aspect of tucson">tutoring is to make the concepts easy to manage by breaking them down into smaller pieces. Often, teachers and tucson">tutors who know material well will make great leaps in logic, leaving their students confused and struggling. In order for students to understand the material well enough to guide themselves through, they must understand every aspect. This is true whether it is a student sounding out a word when reading or going step by step through the process of long division.
