About Me
I am currently a student at New York University completing my senior year. I am majoring in Economics with a strong mathematics concentration and a minor in Chemistry. I will be pursuing a career in consulting after my undergraduate education, and after a few years of experience I plan on attending business school.
I have been tutoring high school and middle school students in the New York area for over 2 years. I have had great experiences with all of my students, significantly improving their performance in the classroom by working with them on the academic material as well as organizational and studying skills. I have had the pleasure of bringing students' grades up from failing to A's and B's. Prior to this, I worked with elementary school students on advancing their reading and math skills through various exercise books and practice problems.
I first listen to the student's initial explanation of the material being studied in the classroom. I look at the notes and readings the teacher has provided and identify the points that have been emphasized. I then provide a broad overview of the concept, followed by a more detailed, step-by-step explanation based on the material provided by the teacher to provide a fuller understanding. I typically ask the student questions to ensure he or she is following along. I also have him or her work out problems independently, giving advice along the way. I wrap up each tutoring session with a summary of the material, as well as the steps we took to learn the material so that the student can learn to do so independently.
