Fun Facts
I was once a professional dodgeball player with the Seattle Blue Dogs.
I enjoy hiking, backpacking, and rock climbing outdoors as a guide in the Outdoor Adventures program at USD.
I have played, refereed, and played basketball. I used to be a diehard fan, too, but then the Seattle SuperSonics disappeared.
About Me
I grew up in Seattle, WA. When I was accepted to the University of San Diego, I jumped at the chance to live in a place where the skies were not a consistent grey, but, rather, a consistent blue. This year, my sophomore year, I have declared as an Industrial and Systems Engineering Major with Minors in Mathematics and Computer Science.
My first semester freshmen year, I had my first client, a student in Calculus I at my university. The first day we met, she said "I just don't understand anything he's talking about in class." She finished that semester with an A in Calculus I. Second semester, I tutored two different clients for the entire semester in the same subject, who went from anticipated C's to A-'s. I loved the first time I saw a face light up as they realized the concept they started the day confused about was suddenly easy for them to solve problems with on their own.
That is why I tutor: to make a student happier and more successful. I do not want to only help someone along with homework. While being able to complete homework and tests is essential, I want to help students understand the concepts of the class, and then be able to apply those concepts to their homework, their tests, and their lives. Relating concepts to life is important to me, because my motivation for education is improving my ability to contribute to the world.
