Fun Facts
My family started to call me Tina as a nickname, which has stuck for most of my life. For the most part I go by Tina with friends and family. Even though my parents did not spend a lot of time camping or hiking while I was growing up, my family went on many family fishing trips and I found a love for all outdoor activities. I love Colorado because of the mountains and the countless opportunities for fun and exploration. I love to snowboard and snowshoe in the winter as well.
About Me
I am currently a student at the University of Colorado, Denver and I am attending college for the second time in my life. I received an Associates of Arts degree from Arapahoe Community College in 2007 and I am presently attempting to get a bachelors degree in History. Right now, I am doing well in school and my goals are to graduate with a bachelors degree, two minors, and a license in education no later than the Spring of 2014. I believe that students get from school what they put into it, however, at younger ages this is not usually the easiest concept to grasp.
While obtaining my associates degree I worked at a school called Pathways Alternative Program. Interestingly, I also attended this school as a student, which completely changed my life and the way I view school. While working at Pathways as a Paraprofessional Instructional, I worked one-on-one with students on a daily basis. I also worked with a small group of students as a mentor in which I met with them at the end of each day. We reviewed grades and daily problems the students may have had.
As a tutor and a mentor I believe that it is my duty to coach students towards good decision making. I think that good grades can be obtainable by any student from any background. It is the people and the relationships around the student that open up learning opportunities for them. I would like to open up these opportunities for students and on top of leading them towards good decision making, also help them excel in their studies and relationships.
