Fun Facts
I'm an aspiring guitarist. I've only been practicing since last summer, but I've found it such a relaxing pastime, that I hope to continue on and keep for the rest of my life! I was born in Peru, and didn't move to the US until I was 12, and as such, I have a deep fascination and appreciation for llamas. They're just fantastic. I think the brain is the coolest organ in the body. I was a swimmer in high school, and I absolutely adore volleyball. I love science fiction and fantasy, and I have a soft spot for Doctor Who! One day, I hope to become a neurosurgeon, but that's still a long ways ahead!
About Me
I'm a Junior Biochemistry, pre-medicine major at Creighton University, with a minor in French. I recently transferred from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where I maintained a 4.0 GPA and was on the Dean's List every semester. After graduation, I want to attend the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Because I find the brain fascinating, and because I adore children, my ultimate goal is to become a pediatric neurosurgeon.
Because of my high grades and kind disposition, I've been a tutor and a mentor to my classmates during both high school and college. I have helped many of my peers master difficult concepts and succeed in challenging classes for years.I love teaching; seeing the face of the student brighten up with understanding is one of the most wonderful feelings. I hope that through Frog Tutoring, I can help many others achieve their educational goals!
When I entered college, I noticed several other students struggling with the class material. After some time,I realized that this was not because the subjects were too difficult for the student, but because the student did not have a good understanding of the basics that compose each subject. Material learned is the toolbox one uses to build a structure of knowledge. If some basic tools are missing, eventually no more knowledge can be built. As a tutor, I strive to make sure that all my students have a complete toolbox, a solid foundation of each subject that they can use to tackle more advanced material. By inculcating the values of hard work, persistence, and scholarship, I strive to make sure each and every one of my students is successful, and acquires a toolbox that will help them excel in all classes, and their eventual professional life!
