Fun Facts
Since moving to Tucson from back east, I've taken a great interest in hiking the dusty paths of hiking trails surrounding Tucson. I'm originally from Bridgewater, New Jersey, where I grew up as an only child. My big move to Tucson was my first foray off the east coast, and I have to say, the place is growing on me!
About Me
I am currently a first-year Masters candidate in the University of Arizona's writing program. I recently moved to Tucson from Pennsylvania, where I received my undergraduate degree in creative writing with a minor in Spanish. Upon graduation in 2014, I plan to pursue a career in teaching and publishing, and possibly, in a few years, pursue a doctorate.
Along with reading and writing, teaching has always been a primary passion of mine. The past eight summers, I have served as counselor to a number of elementary- and middle-school-aged children at the New Jersey summer camp of my youth. More recently, I've been given the opportunity to co-teach high school- and undergraduate-level classes in English and creative writing. I've loved working with students of all ages, and believe strongly in tutoring as both teaching and mentoring.
I've committed to a graduate degree, and a big move to the Sonora Desert, because of the many teachers and mentors that helped me discover my interests and passions throughout the years. I believe in each student's ability to succeed with the right tools and guidance. As a tutor, I hope to assist students in improving their immediate academic performance, while also fostering a fervor for learning that sustains them for years to come.
