Fun Facts
I've always loved to play sports, and currently play for the Saint Louis University Billiken's Division 1 Field Hockey team. When I'm not busy with field hockey or school, you can always find me curled up with a book! My favorite books are The Harry Potter series, by J.K. Rowling, and Gone with the Wind, by Margaret Mitchell. I also love to write, specifically short stories and poetry. I grew up the middle of 5 children, and absolutely loved being part of such a big family!
About Me
I am currently a junior at Saint Louis University and am double majoring in English and Secondary Education. I plan on becoming a high school English teacher after I graduate, and am extremely passionate about education. I grew up in suburb of Boston, Massachusetts, but while attending SLU over the last three years, I have fallen in love with the city of St. Louis. I am an extremely academically conscious person, and with an overall 3.83 GPA I have been on the Dean's List every semester of my college career. Playing a division 1 sport has fine tuned my organizational skills and taught me extreme time management. I am also the secretary of the Student Athletic Academic Committee, and collaborate with other athletes, and athletic administration to make sure the academic needs of all athletes are being met. I hope to maintain my academic success through out the remainder of my college career, and am excited to begin my semester student teaching in the Spring of 2014.
As an education major I have experience observing and volunteering in classrooms of all ages. Most recently I was volunteer tutoring at Shearwater, a Charter School for disengaged youth. I worked on test preparation, organizational skills, reading comprehension, and as a teacher's aid in the classroom. I am also involved in Responsibillikens which is a peer mentor organization of student athletes at SLU, and have completed the Step Up mentoring training course. I love working one-on-one with other students and peers. The relationship that a tutor can build with a student during a one-on-one session enables the tutor and student to work together better, communicate strengths and weaknesses clearly, and learn academic and life skills that will last a life time. Frogtutoring gives me the chance to work one-on-one with a plethora of students, and be a positive influence on so many young lives.
I am passionate about education and believe strongly that every student deserves an education that allows them to
